The last couple of weeks have been big for Disney in regards to news so I have decided to put together one big post with all the need to know details. Between The Disney Villains After Hours Event, Mickey’s Philharmagic coming to Disneyland, union trouble, and a new way to enhance your park experience we have a lot to cover. Let’s get started!
Disney Villains After Hours Event Taking Place at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Select Nights This Summer
The After Hours Events are special ticket events that allow guests to experience The Magic Kingdom at night with fewer crowds in the park. This event is going to add a bit of a “wicked twist” with some of the ever-popular Disney Villains joining the party.
Guests are able to enter the park at 7pm where they can enjoy fireworks, snacks such as popcorn, ice cream novelties, and select bottled drinks that are included in the tickets, and of course low wait times for the attractions. There will be special entertainment and merchandise as well.
Some of the special experiences at the event will be a new Disney-Villain stage show, Maleficent the Dragon being let loose around the park, Villain additions to Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain, and specialty food and beverages available for purchase.
Unlike regular days in the park guests re encouraged to wear costumes to the event! So get wild and come dressed as your favorite Disney Villain.
Disney Villains After Hours tickets cost $139 plus tax in advance, $144 plus tax on the event night. Annual Passholders and DVC members can save $30 and purchase tickets for $109.
Below are the dates for this event:
Thursday, June 6, 2019
Thursday, June 13, 2019
Thursday, June 20, 2019
Thursday, June 27, 2019
Monday, July 1, 2019
Thursday, July 11, 2019
Thursday, July 18, 2019
Thursday, July 25, 2019
Thursday, August 1, 2019
Thursday, August 8, 2019
Not sure about you but I think this sounds like a super fun event! A tip I live by when doing a special ticketed event is make that day a pool, resort, or Disney Springs day and skip the additional day on your regular park tickets. It will give you time to relax before your late night fun and it can save a bit of money.
Mickey’s Philharmagic Heading to Disneyland’s California Adventure Park
Starting this month at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land, Mickey, Donald, and friends take the stage in this 3D fantasy adventure. This is an attraction that can already be found in Fantasyland at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. It is one of my favorite 3D attractions and an absolutely adorable show. I am excited to see it hopping over to the west coast parks. What are your thoughts on this? Do you love Mickey’s Philharmagic as well?

Costume Performers at Walt Disney World Threaten to Leave Teamsters Union
This last bit of news is less exciting but important nonetheless. According to WOFL Fox 35 hundreds of WDW cast members are threatening to leave their union, Teamsters Local 385/ Costume characters are claiming they have horrible representation and hundreds of them have signed petition to leave the union. So far Disney is standing with the collective bargaining agreement that took place with the union and the union representatives have not responded. Keep an eye out for updates as more unfolds.
The last few weeks have been pretty big as far as news and announcements from Disney. What are your thoughts on everything going on? Let me know in the comments!
