Today Disney announce some major news about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the opening dates! Due to high guest interest the land is opening early. Galaxy’s Edge is opening on May 31st in Disneyland California and August 29th in Walt Disney World at Hollywood Studios in Florida.
They are opening the park in phases. Phase one opening on the dates above will include Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, food and beverage options, and shops. For phase two, which will open later in the year, you will be able to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is said to be one of the most innovative and exciting rides Disney has created. You can read all of the details about Galaxy’s Edge in my post here but the word is, IT LOOKS AMAZING!
Guests that want to experience Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland between May 31 and June 23, 2019 will be required to make a reservation, at no cost, to access the land. Information on making a reservation will be released at a later date on disneyland.com and the Disney Parks Blog. If you are staying at one of the three Disneyland resorts you will receive a reservation to access Galaxy’s Edge during your stay, only one reservation per guest will be allowed. You must have valid park tickets for entry.
There are no reservations required at Walt Disney World but capacity is limited, and it will be crowded. It will be accessible during extra magic hours as well at WDW only.
An important detail to note is that fast passes will NOT be available for the attraction initially at either park. Everyone will have to wait in the standby line. In my opinion wait times will be record breaking for this so be prepared! It is also worth nothing that being a guest at the parks will not guarantee access to Galaxy’s Edge it will be based on capacity.
This is really exciting news and I can’t wait to hear about the opening of the lands! To read more details you can go here to get the information from Disney Park Blogs. What are your thoughts on this news?
