Disney has recently announced new changes coming to Epcot in the next few years. They have big plans to transform some of the park in new and innovative ways. These plans include a new play pavilion that is replacing Wonders of Life, along with updates to the main entrance. Lets look at some details below.
According to Disney the play pavilion is like nothing they have ever done before. It is going to be a space dedicated to fun and play featuring a ‘city’ that allows you to explore, play, and interact with different Disney characters. This sounds like a really awesome and innovative concept and I am exited to see the execution. It really seems like this is going back to Walt’s original idea and dream of Epcot being its own city.
The update to the park entrance also sounds exciting. They will be working on significant changes with addition pathways, fountains, green spaces, and even working on renovations between Spaceship Earth and the World Showcase. I think these are all renovations we should be excited about.
There have also been other updates in the works for Epcot that have been announced for a while now – The Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster that will replace Ellen’s Energy Adventure, A new nighttime show, a Mission Space themed restaurant, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure moving into France, Updated 360 films in China and France, A new Japan restaurant, and a Beauty and the Beast sing-a-long in France. Also as an honorable mention, the skyliner gondolas, which will get you to the international gateway entrance.
My overall opinion on these updates is really positive. Epcot is one of my favorite places in the world but it can definitely use some updates. My only concern, and this is something I hear all of the time, is that the park is becoming a bit IP heavy. I LOVE Disney IP’s as much (and probably more) than the next person, but the great part about Epcot is it hasn’t been as IP driven as some of the other parks. It is seemingly heading in that direction more and more now. But, in the end I trust Disney to work there magic. What are your thoughts on these updates? Let me know in the comments.
Sounds pretty exciting! I haven’t been to Epcot in a long time but it’s one of my favourite parks. It’ll be fun to go back and see it once they’ve made these changes 🙂
