The Most Crowded Times To Visit Disney

Disney is an overall busy and crowded place to be. There are however, worse times to visit than others. There are obvious tips like the fact that weekends will be busier than weekdays and there are less obvious times that you may not realize. Lets look at some of the worst times to visit the parks. Please remember these are my opinions and I am in no way shaming anyone’s choices in vacation times. You cannot go wrong visiting Disney at any time!

Summer – this is in my opinion the absolute worst time to go. Keeping in mind of course that there is no truly terrible time to go, because it’s Disney! I once made the mistake of going to Walt Disney World in August and I don’t think I would ever do it again if I can avoid it. First of all, the heat and humidity of Florida in August is completely unbearable. Even California in August would be rough but Florida is a no go. On top of that summers are crazy busy! The kids are out of school and this is when everyone decides to go on vacation. The combination makes it a less ideal time to visit if you can avoid it.

School breaks – This seems like a logical time to visit if you have a family because it is when the kids are free. But, this is when crowds run high and it is becoming more and more popular for people to take their kids out of school to avoid peak crowds.

Marathon weekends – Disney has multiple marathon weekends throughout the year. These bring in a lot of crowds with not only runners but their families as well. The runs start very early in the morning and you can generally find the runners in the parks afterwards.

Cheerleading competitions – Disney often hosts cheerleading competitions on property a couple of times a year. That means when they are not competing, you can find large groups of cheerleaders and their families running around the park. This also impacts some of the hotels like the All Stars that host the groups.

Holidays – any holidays bring in crowds but Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July, and New Years especially are some of the most crowded times of the year. For some people this is an amazing time to go, Disney has special events and fireworks shows that really draw you in. However, the crowd levels during these times are out of this world. For me it is not worth it.

These are some of the worst times of year to visit based on crowds in my opinion. I try to plan my trips when it is generally less crowded (but still crowded). But, at the end of the day I wouldn’t turn down a trip to Disney at any time of the year! What time of year do you prefer to go?

Hello! My name is Cori. I am a huge Disney and Harry Potter Fanatic. I travel to Disney multiple times a year, whether it's Disney world, which I go to the most, Disneyland, a Disney Cruise, or one of the many other wonderful Disney Experiences. I also love to travel to new places and visit Universal every once in awhile to see Harry Potter. I spend a large amount of time researching all things Disney, so I thought it was only fitting that I start a blog to share my thoughts and findings, and I could not be more excited.
